My daughter and I traveled 3 hours each (from opposites directions) to purchase a minivan. We had reached out over the weekend prior to making the trip. We filled out a financial application and sent an inquiry about the vehicle. On Monday, I received one email response that seemed very generic. The email asked if we had any further questions concerning the vehicle so I responded with a few detailed questions and requested more information about the mechanics. I never received a response. I called the store and Larry answered. I asked about the email I sent and asked if he could answer the questions. Larry's reply was that he didn't know much about the vehicle. I informed him my daughter and I would be traveling 3 hours and would come in to look over the vehicle and probably purchase the minivan the following day. I asked him if the financial application was received and under review and he simply said "yes". He provided no additional information.
When my daughter and I arrived on Tuesday, Larry asked to verify my daughters information and then informed us he could not find any credit information for her. We went back and forth for about 30 minutes because she knew she had credit information. We called her bank that she had previous loans through and they confirmed she had credit. We started the new loan process through her bank and informed Larry that we were doing so. We mentioned the bank did find that the price of the car was higher than their system showed but he stated the $6999 was as low as he could go. He was very unhelpful through the process as we had to go back and forth between the phone calls with the bank and Larry. We had to ask 3 times to take the van for a test drive. Larry even delayed sending a carfax to the bank because he was making an “important personal” call. We were in the building for about 3.5 hours. When we returned from the test drive, we informed Larry that we thought it was a nice drive and it didn’t look or sound like there were any issues currently with the mechanics of the vehicle. In a condescending tone, he told us “I know it’s a good car and nothing is wrong with it.” We were taken a back by his tone. We informed him that the loan through my daughter’s bank had been approved and the cash was in her checking account. We asked him if he would be able to take a debt transaction for the $7k. He informed us there would be a transaction fee and mentioned $299. My daughter then asked if he would accept a cashier’s check for $7000 and Larry mumbled under his breath. I asked him to repeat what he said. He then stated they had a $299 doc fee. He had never mentioned this during the entire 3.5 hours we were there going back and forth between him and the bank. I asked him to go down in the price of the car so that the $7000 cashiers check could cover everything. He refused. He also stated the manager/owner would not go down either. I asked repeatedly to have his manager/business owner come out and speak with us, and Larry refused. Not only did he refuse to retrieve anyone for assistance, he also refused to give us the name of the manager/owner, refused to provide any contact information and refused to give us a business car. We ended up walking out of the dealership without a vehicle.
